Masks, gloves, horses and more...
The pandemic has changed our lives dramatically. Everyone has had to adjust to the new standards and rules of society. One of the biggest adjustments was finding a way to protect everyone in public and the solution was face masks. The CDC has decided that it is mandatory to wear face masks in public to prevent the spread of the virus. These masks have not only become a form of protection but also a form of fashion.Â
After realizing that I did not have a lot of photos of people wearing masks I decided to find a creative way to show how people are wearing them. During this time I think we can all agree that we could use some happiness and joy. So I decided to photograph some members of the Kelsey Farm’s community: horse Hudson and Tiny Tim and Jen, the barn manager. Jen is also a photographer and she helped me set up a safe way to take the photos. I felt that horses and people caring for horses would bring a smile to everyone’s face. It is also a reminder that everyone needs to wear a mask in order to stop the spread of the virus. By not wearing a mask you are putting other's lives in danger.Â
Walking around the farm today felt different, not just because it was quieter, but because everyone has to be more careful. It is not just the farm that feels this way but grocery stores, restaurants, and other public places feel very different. However, this new accessory has become a new type of fashion. Companies, clothing lines, and even people bored at home have designed tons of different kinds of masks. There are simple white ones or elaborate colorful ones. Even fashion magazines such as Portugal Vogue have exhibited the new fashion. In Portugal Vogue's magazine, a couple was on the cover kissing through masks.Â
 Even though this time is challenging I hope that these adorable horse photos bring a smile to your face. This time can be challenging, but we must support each other to get through it. Let's stop the spread of the virus and remember to wear your mask in public.
